Seems to be getting hard to find crate engines these days.  It seems the days of the Rover V8 is in the past.

There is this option, but with the tariff wars in progress, it might not be the best choice.  https://www.roverparts.com/engine/long-block-engines/9257DRL1K/

Parts for Sale / LR3 disc rotors and ceramic br...
Last post by grizzlychicken - August 04, 2025, 09:20 PM
I have a pair of brand new rear break rotors that are drilled and slotted and a set of ceramic brake pads to match. My LR3 was written off and planned to install these. They are now gathering dust in my garage. Spent about $350 on these puppies but asking $150 to a good home :)

Dm me if you're interested.

Well got the rear door mounted. Drilled some fresh holes as the right corner is all new metal. Gaps not quite 100%. Need to drill the mount holes out a bit so can shift the door right.

Also started to build the doors. Got 4 new doors but looks like the mounting points for the inner panel don't line up. (Sigh!) the old doors have 3 brackets that attach the outer panel too. Thinking I might drill them out and rivet to the new doors. Downside is not great for the old doors which are likely salvageable for someone's build in the future....

Also looked at the door outer handles and wonder if I should change them out.....Locks definitely need changing as they are pretty seized.

These are the brackets on the old door.

I would like to remind our members to have a look through the events calendar on our website www.alre.club to see what events/adventures have been proposed, and to book a spot as soon as possible.   If you would like to add something please let me know and we'll add it to the calendar👍

Chris' Wild Hot Springs tour in southeast BC was a great success!!!   3 Defenders and one LR3 did a bit of green laning, took a couple of Ferry crossings, visited some wonderful wild hot springs, drive up to a fire lookout tower for some spectacular views, hiked (uphill both ways LOL) into a gorgeous water fall and had really lovely campsites.   There's a great collection of photos, videos and drone footage for the trip (see the EVENTS section of the forum http://alre.club/Forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=nukl5u6m7tl6c5qu1ca4u37qcr&topic=2766.30

The Reynolds Museum Ultimate Car show lucked out with some great weather and the ALRE had a modest but proud showing of landies come out.

Calgary's original European Classic Car Show at Stanley Park was called off due to heavy rains and rescheduled for a later date.   Due to lack of interest from the club the event was cancelled..

COMING UP:

Aug 9th   Pack a lunch and throw your canoe/kayak on the roof of your landy.   Bill's organizing a 4-5 hour lazy paddle down the north Saskatchewan from Devon to Laurier Park, with an 'early' start on the river.    Contact (PM) binch for details.
Note:  If there is no interest for that date I'll likely do the trip on the Thursday, Aug 7th instead on my own😁

Aug 16th   John Barge is organizing a day trip to Waiparous (eastern slopes of the Rockies, west of Cochrane) for Saturday, August 16.  Off roading in the morning with lunch at Margaret Lake. This is a beautiful area with spectacular scenery folks!!!   If you are interested please PM Red90.

Cheers Bill

Wasn't there a Rover Landers of BC trip in that area just a few weeks ago?  You might want to check in with AndyD.

Hi fellows. My 4.6L engine has cracked. As such, I am looking for an engine in a crate. The vehicle otherwise is in mint shape so not really ready for the wrecker yet. Looking for assistance in finding one!!

I've been reading up on this trail hoping to give it a run in August but I'm starting to learn there maybe issues with access to sections of the trail.

Has anyone else heard anything about sections eliminated over 1920m elevation????
