1987 Range Rover.

Selling my 1987 Range Rover. 87 was the year Land Rover returned to the North American market with a single model, the Range Rover. As such it has a few features that were to slowly disappear in future model years, such as a selectable diff lock LT230 T'case, no sunroof with vinyl headliner, cloth seating, boge strut, external door hinges etc.

Lets get the bad out of the way first.

Well it's a Land Rover product made almost 30 years ago so there are a few issues.
Lift gate is rusty. No big surprise here.
There is some rust in the floor, nothing terminal but you can watch the road pass by if you lift the rug!
It has a coolant leak from the back of the block. Could be just the heater hose that lives back there (and I suspect this is the case) or it could be the head gasket.
Needs paint. Clear coat has baked off and is separating.



Now for the good!
Well first it's a Classic Range Rover and a very early NA spec model at that. These are increasing in value all the time.
It has just 103,400 miles on the clock.
All glass is in excellent shape including the windshield.
It starts and runs really well.
It has the EFI 3.5L V8. Perhaps the most robust of all the Rover V8's.
It stops and shifts well.
Interior is in respectable condition.
It has the factory accessory brush guard in good condition.
It has an 80's period Bearmach rear fold down cargo tray/brush guard out back.
Still has the original radio (In box) aftermarket unit fitted at this time.
Body panels are straight and undamaged.
Decent tyres in good condition on classic Range Rover three spoke alloy wheels.
Chassis looks solid.
The price is low. The style is high.

This is a unit that requires a mild restoration or repair and could be enjoyed quickly with relatively little work and cash outlay. Or a person could go all out and fully restore the whole thing and have a really classy ride that will continue to appreciate in value.

Asking $1200 but will entertain a near offer.

Nope. The Mighty Range Rover is a 1994 and that's a keeper  ;D

A guy that lives in BC and Mexico of all places bought it? His cousin came out and towed it away yesterday.

I was sad to watch it go but it was getting dangerously close to becoming a parts donor for me and it was just a little too good to suffer that fate. Hopefully it's new owner will have more time for it.
