Nice aftermarket cam and double roller timing set for the win.

If anyone does go 14CUX, pick up a cable from this guy: http://www.g33.co.uk/fuel_injection.htm and you can hook it up to a laptop.  Read from "3) Rovergauge. PC based diagnostic."  You can make up your own cable as well, but this is a lot less hassle.

The Lucas 5 way TTS plug is now obsolete, so Ive had to make some suitable connectors from scratch, and I can supply ready made cables at £35  if you dont want to make your own with all the required software and 14CUX manuals on CD  . Drop me a mail if you want one. Mark@blitzracing.co.uk.

Well I guess I will be selling a '96 GEMS 4.0 soon, with the R380.

I have found some potential engines in the UK (300TDi + R380 from a Defender), and shipping doesn't look as bad as I originally expected, so I think for me this is the best route to go!
