A couple rather ingenious items for your rig

One of the websites I read regularly, Intents Offroad http://intentsoffroad.com/ had a little Xmas gift list for the 4x4 enthusiast. They had a couple kinda cool pieces of kit on their list...

Wrap it around your tire,secure the other end, and pull yourself out. I know, I know, winch is much better, stronger, etc, and a ton less stress on your wheel/bearings/cv's etc. But you gotta admit, its a pretty cool idea.

I've used something similar to this recently. One of the guys I was down in Moab with this fall had one. We had hot chicken wings on the trail for lunch one day, and grilled garlic sausage the next. He just loaded up the oven at the start of the day, let things cook while we were wheeling, and presto, hot lunch when your park for feeding. Another cool idea.

Intresting web sites for sure. The bog out idea is new. I like winching though.
The oven and Moab didnot add up for me. It's plus 30 last time I was there at noon. Mind you, would be handy on the ice roads this winter.
Nonetheless, I did spoil myself today and ordered the Ugly XMAs sweater for Landrover. Hopefully delivered before The Club meeting.

The oven looks neat, but would likely be tough operationally. I can't see a small pizza going in there raw, and then surviving being off road and mobile.

The 24V oven looked better, as the battery current and wire gauges would be more manageable. For that, one would need to have a 2.5 NA with a big 24V FFR alternator. Like a man. :)

When I worked in Wainwright, the troops would use their 24V stoves in their LAV APC'S.  They were much more rugged, but not much larger. Some are available surplus now. They would be used to heat MRE packs mostly, and were more of a small heated pot.

The tankers would wire an empty ammo can to the exhaust vent in their leopard tanks, and place their MRE's in there for heating while mobile. A fellow could perhaps do the same with a small box welded to an exhaust manifold in the landy, particularly a hotter gasoline one.

I'm buying one of those small 12V lunchbox stoves at CT for my work truck another way to go. They're about $42 at CT, but are known as more of a 'gradual heater' than an oven.

A couple of 24volt heating elements in a 50 cal box make a very nice OTT (on tank toaster) just watch they don't spot weld themselves on  ;D :D
