I'm thinking about a 2-3 day overnight in the Cypress Hill area May 2, 3 and 4. We're early on in the planning stages so there's a clean slate on the how this will unfold.  Let me know if you're interested and we'll see if we can pull something together.

Chris

I might be able to join either later on the 2nd, or the 3rd. I'll make sure we have no plans, but should be able to make it

Hi Everyone:

The plans are coming together for the May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th trip to Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan.    There are a few trails to explore around the area – nothing overly technical.  This a great weekend outing for spouses, kids, and dogs.  Expect some snow and mud depending on temperatures and moisture levels.  They just had another 8 inches of snow this past weekend.

We are going to be staying at The Resort at Cypress Hills https://www.resortatcypresshills.ca/accommodations (306) 662-4477.  This is on the Saskatchewan side – about 25 minutes South of Maple Creek. There are 2 and 3 bedroom townhouses and cabins available, both with kitchens that are dog friendly, or basic hotel rooms as well.  People can book for themselves.  Let them know that you are with the LR Club and they will try their best to have us together.

There is Ivan's restaurant in the resort.  Other than that, it sounds like not much else is open right in Cypress Hills.  Maple Creek is the nearest place for other restaurants, grocery store and fuel.

If time permits, I'd like to get some hikes in as well.  Something moderately easy for 1-2 hours to stretch the legs and give the dog some exercise.  There is an outdoor fire pit for evening get togethers.  The resort supplies firewood – bring your own axe.

My plan is to book the Friday off work.  I might even try to drive there Thursday night if I can get my act together and pack ahead of time.

So far we have 4 vehicles coming:
Bill I.    D110/Discovery
Chris K.   LR3
Glenn B.   non-LR
John O.    New Defender 110

Let me know if you have any questions.  Feel free to chime in if I missed anything.

Cheers,
John

Thanks Bill, Glenn and I are booked in as well.

Hi Chris, Sorry to hear about your injury.  Here's to a speedy recovery.  No problem joining us on short notice.

JohnnyO

We are looking forward to an adventurous weekend and have three vehicles confirmed - two Landys and Glenn with his Tacoma (we'll cut him some slack with his UK roots).  The mid-20s weather forecast looks to be in our favour.

Last call for anyone else who is interested.  We have a planning email thread going and can get you on it if you can let me know.
