Reaching out to see if anyone knows about this Land Rover Series 3 I acquired at a local auction.
I am stepping out of my square and looking to refurbish this LR to a running state.

From the auctioneer it is a 1973 S3 90900639-A, never registered in Canada, driven from Guatemala,2.5L Diesel from Suffield Military base, project vehicle.

Although it is not in a running state most parts seem to be there ( anticipate refurb start in March), I presently trying to search the history of this LR for my knowledge only.

Can't say that I recognize this landy at all, but look like a repaint.    From what I see of the 2.5n/a engine the pale green paint indicates it had an AVRO rebuild for the military.(scary quality at best).  But if it's running then it's a start.   To learn more about it's history you can look up the VIN at

pls let us know what you learn  ;-)
Cheers, Bill

Thanks for the reply
Have not started on refurb yet (this month?),yes it has had a repaint and not the best of quality. Went thru the VIN tracking process when I first bought the unit, best I could come up with is that it was CKD unit to Latin America, ended up in Guatemala, then imported to Alberta many years ago. The seller (unknown) started on a motor exchange to a 2.5 NA but not completed. Thanks for your observation of the motor, not sure if it runs but a place to start, AVRO not a good motor or the rebuild?  All the parts of the S3 seem to be there (looking for a dash shelf) so I have hope in having it running as is.
Will be a interesting project
