Ghost PLUZ 10am Saturday, March 4th:
We are adding another ALRE day trip out to the Ghost PLUZ area for Saturday, March 4th.  This is in conjunction with the Museum of Making tour Sunday, March 5th to round out the weekend.

We'll drive up the TransAlta road and then to the end of the trail up the Ghost river valley.  The trail closes at the end of March past marker 39, so we'll aim to drive to marker 48.  We'll stop to have lunch at the destination, and plan to be back in Cochrane for happy hour.

We'll meet in Cochrane at the Petro Canada station on the West side of town on the 1A Highway.  This is the same location as for the museum the next day.  There's a Tim Hortons there as well.  We'll depart for the TransAlta road en masse at 10am.  Feel free to come early and have a coffee if you like before heading out.

So far 4 Landies are interested.  Please reply to confirm your attendance for Saturday and/or Sunday so we have final numbers.

Here's the route.  Ignore the estimated time.  It's more like 3 hrs. to the end:

I'll be coming (2007 LR3) I'll invite a couple landrover people I know that I'm not sure are on the forum, ill let you know if I'll have 1'2 or 3 landrovers. I work Sunday so I'll just be there for Saturday :(

Maddy_110

I am hoping to have some work finished on your old Defender 110 in time for this weekend, but if not we will bring our new-to-us '96 Discovery instead.

Got my room booked for the weekend!   Looking forward to meeting up with everyone again!!! ;D
Cheers, Bill

Iv got 2 landrovers confirmed myself and 1 other. Is it OK if I bring a Jeep along too? They're good people, mostly stock probably on 32s if I had to guess. If that's a big no, then I understand, it's no problem

binch

I can't see that being a problem at all ;)
Cheers, Bill

Chris

Is everyone driving down Saturday? Or Friday and getting a hotel? If everyone's heading down Friday and getting a hotel, is there one everyone's staying at? I'll try to book myself in too!

binch

I know the guys from Calgary area will be meeting at the designated spots both saturday and again sunday for the museum.  I'm not sure what anyone else is doing but I'm staying friday & saturday evenings at the Bow River Inn in Cochrane, then joining the herd each morning ;-)
Cheers, Bill

This is a friendly reminder about the upcoming trip: Ghost PLUZ 10am Saturday, March 4th

It's a relatively easy trail that any modern or classic Land Rover is capable of joining in.   It's an 'out and back' route so you can go as far as you're comfortable and wait for the group to return.

Here's a video of the Ghost route from January, prior to the recent snowfall.  Thanks Rich!  (Yours truly is the 'one brave sole' on the motor bike at 28:53.)

We'll be leaving from the 1A Tim Hortons on the West side of Cochrane at 10am sharp:

Future email messages will be limited to those signed up.  There will be no further updates on the Facebook nor ALRE forums.

Please email johno167-at-outlook.com by Friday, March 3rd if you are interested in being added to the email thread, and any omissions/corrections.

#10
Awesome day out in the mountains today!  Three Defenders, a stock Disco that did amazing, a RR Sport that can do anything with lots of throttle, and a nicely kitted out LR3. Lots of snow out there and a tricky river crossing with a wee bit of an ice shelf. Let's just say the winches were put to good use.  The biggest loss of the day was a mud flap off the Disco at the river crossing. Found it on the way back so we'll call that a successful day. Thanks guys!
