The 300tdi and R380 could be a nice bit of kit.

Can anyone make out the lettering in the vin plate......I can't really make it out.

Be interesting to see more of it ;)
Cheers, Bill

The military plate CA 06 AA is 40 below my 110.  The plate reads Truck Utility Medium FFR Plain Hardtop  12/24 V 4X4 Defender 110 Diesel.  Manfr  Rover Group Ltd.
Then the VIN should then read  SALLDHAC8MA then serial number which looks to be 957529*   Reg No.  CA 06 AA
So SALLDHAC8MA is S = Europe,   A = UK,   L = British Leyland - Land Rover,   LD = 90 and 110,   H = wheelbase 110,   A = Body Style Plain Hardtop,   C = Engine 2.5 NA Diesel model 12 J,   8 = LHD, 5 speed (R380),   M = Build year  1995,   A = Solihull,  then serial number.  The serial number is not 40 different from my serial number so possibly under a different contract or more than likely military vehicles were build randomly along with all other 110 models.  I will look at my VIN plate and see what my contract number is.
As far as I can see my VIN plate has the same Con No.  LV2A/211  Item 3,  Code No.  NB 1720,  and NSN 2320 - 99 - 893 - 7008  so this would mean military vehicles are built under a contract for so many units but maybe in small numbers at a time following in line with regular production.  Makes sense as not likely LR can stop civilian production to build hundreds of units for the military all at one time.
Another up date, I have being stored here CA 03 AA and all is identical on the plate except the serial No. which is 957515.  So even though the Reg No. is different by only three, the serial no. is different by 14
