The folks at Petersen's 4 Wheel & Off Road magazine are building up an old Rangie for this years Ultimate Adventure!

This is a yearly, week long feature that travels on road to a string of hard core trails at dedicated off road parks around the USA. Each year a unique vehicle is built for the trip (usually a pickup or Jeep) but this year it's an old Rangie.

Typically, whatever vehicle is used is taken to pro off road shop and gutted. Then rebuilt with hardcore custom Offroad gear while trying to add or retain few new or interesting features. Looks like a different transfer case at least is being used as the massive new front axle has a driver side differential. BUT they are using the standard Land Rover radius arm suspension. That's a pretty big deal because that is the first thing that usually gets the chop in favour of a fancy coilover & four link arrangement.

Interested to see what they can come with.

That will be a cool build to watch. Thanks for posting this Matt.

That Ultimate Dana 60 is a seriously beefy axle. 1 1/2" dia - 35 spline stub shafts are a lot of beef, with some big bloody knuckles as well.

I'm also surprised they're sticking with the radius arm suspension. I am looking forward to how it performs with these mods (or if they actually stick with it when it is all said and done).
