Title: Airline "heat shield"
Post by: Chris on February 06, 2025, 11:14 AM
For those that came yesterday to the monthly gathering, here's a photo of my airline e repair.
For those that were not, I bought a roll of spare airline for the LR3, I didn't buy stuff thats heat resistant, I had to do a patch just off the front shock, which is by the exhaust manifold, I kept blowing the new line every 5 minutes as soon as it would heat up. So we did this. Line, then cut open a second line, wrapped it around it. Then used til foil has a heat deflector. It worked 🤣

Thinking outside the box.... Good man!

What about the durability of the foil wrap?    I'm thinking the grit and sluch from the road might be an issue.....?

It was most definitely a temporary fix to get me home, fortunately, I was able to tuck it up by the fender liner, so that helped with road slush and dirt, it would not have lasted long otherwise I don't think.
