Well folks....it's that time of year again!    Big family gatherings, feasting til the wee hours of the night and happy times for all.  Merry ho ho ho to all of you and your families.

Gathering note for the Edmonton area folks.....The first wednesday of the month falls on Jan 1st so needless to say we will not be having our gathering then.  Instead we will move the January gathering to Wednesday, January 8th still at the Irish Social club.  I hope to see many of you there, to start off the new year proper ;-)

April Gathering Wednesday April 5th

It's time again for the ALRE Annual Trip Planning Meeting, which we will hold at the same time as the Edmonton area Gathering on Wednesday April 2nd.   This is an opportunity for members to discuss workshops, potential trips, events, car shows, club picnics, family trips, fishing weekend, etc.    We rely heavily on our members' participation in making "things" happen each year.   So....If you have an idea or would like to volunteer as a coordinator for something, come out and ask questions, or give us some feedback.    If you are not able to make it you can send me an email with your interests and I will add it to the calendar, or connect you to an activity.   Our website www.ALRE.Club also has a section titled 'EVENTS' which you can add something to at any time...so there are lots of ways to get involved.
But PLEASE.....Get involved and make things happen!!!

contact me if you have any questions ;-)

I would like to remind our members to have a look through the events calendar on our website www.alre.club to see what events/adventures have been proposed, and to book a spot as soon as possible.

John Oberlin organized a brilliant green laning adventure down in Cypress Hills Interprovincial park, in the SE of Saskatchewan.  Pre-season trip staying out of the resort townhouses with spectacular weather and very few other visitors to the park.  It was almost as if we had the whole park to our selves.  Matt & Joy Huffadine came out from the HAT to joined us on Saturday afternoon for a run out to Ft Walsh as well.  It's a long drive down from Edmonton, but the Journey was well worth the time as we travelled down through the East of the province and had a great time of it.

Sad News.....The Vehicle prep & Maintenance clinic scheduled for Saturday May 10th has been CANCELLED to a complete lack of interest from our members.

Looking pears to seeing u there...should be a very interesting evening!!!

Chris' Wild Hot Springs tour in southeast BC was a great success!!!   3 Defenders and one LR3 did a bit of green laning, took a couple of Ferry crossings, visited some wonderful wild hot springs, drive up to a fire lookout tower for some spectacular views, hiked (uphill both ways LOL) into a gorgeous water fall and had really lovely campsites.   There's a great collection of photos, videos and drone footage for the trip (see the EVENTS section of the forum http://alre.club/Forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=nukl5u6m7tl6c5qu1ca4u37qcr&topic=2766.30

The Reynolds Museum Ultimate Car show lucked out with some great weather and the ALRE had a modest but proud showing of landies come out.

Calgary's original European Classic Car Show at Stanley Park was called off due to heavy rains and rescheduled for a later date.   Due to lack of interest from the club the event was cancelled..

COMING UP:

Aug 9th   Pack a lunch and throw your canoe/kayak on the roof of your landy.   Bill's organizing a 4-5 hour lazy paddle down the north Saskatchewan from Devon to Laurier Park, with an 'early' start on the river.    Contact (PM) binch for details.
Note:  If there is no interest for that date I'll likely do the trip on the Thursday, Aug 7th instead on my own😁

Aug 16th   John Barge is organizing a day trip to Waiparous (eastern slopes of the Rockies, west of Cochrane) for Saturday, August 16.  Off roading in the morning with lunch at Margaret Lake. This is a beautiful area with spectacular scenery folks!!!   If you are interested please PM Red90.
