Quote from: Def110 on June 23, 2025, 08:29 PMDid I see someone post that a Toyota might be coming? I wouldn't ask but my buddy has a forerunner and loves Hot Springs. let me know if that's cool to have a Toyota if not, I'll just send them pics like I normally do lol.

Hello! I expect to be at halfway hotsprings on day two(the sunday) hopefully around 12-1 so long as we leave at a good time.
We won't be doing Rady creek, there's still too much snow up there(as per two weeks ago unless you've heard of someone getting there recently?) and will be doing the Wilson lake fsr and scenery instead of rady.
Your toyota friend is more then welcome, my toyota friend isnt able to make it this go around, but I do have a jeep coming. It isnt a landrover exclusive event, just a bunch of mates enjoying the back country

Trip is coming up quick!

Here's a few additional details, if you have any other questions, please ask!

The Town of Field is 4.5hrs(5ish hrs as im going via Nordegg for scenery) from Leduc. im leaving Leduc at 8am to be in field for 1ish to meet the south end of the province crew. From there, we will head towards revelstoke(does anyone know some crown nearby to camp? I'll have a look this week for a place, but if someone knows, post-it:) )

As for food, its a short-ish trip, please pack for yourself food, snacks and drinking water.

I will have my shower curtain and hot water on demand. Please bring your own showering water if you wish to use, as I cannot carry enough water for everyone to shower with.

We will be driving through a town almost every day, if you need to resupply, there will be time to do it.

*** I like to start my trips with a hardy breakfast, 7am Saturday I will be at the tutti frutti in Leduc (41 Athapaskan Dr, Leduc, AB T9E 4E4) and leaving 8am sharp, arrive fueled!

Sounds good Chris!   I'll see you for breakfast on Saturday Morning for breakfast😉😘

Are we meeting at the visitor centre in Field?

I would look at a rec site for the first night. The problem is things are hit and miss if they are full. I have not done any random camping in that area, so would need to hunt one down or talk to a local.

This looks like a good option.

Works for me, I found an open area north of that rec spot thats on crown, but that looks much nicer! We can try for that spot, my spot can be a back up.

Yoho trading post in field works, I think there's a fuel station there also for those of us with gas engines haha

Def110

Ok.
I thought I was in but I can't commit at this point. Halfway River Hot springs is nice. Can be crowded these days with a campsite there now and Google of course. Kootenays is always beautiful so I'm sure you will enjoy.

I receive the email announcements so will keep an eye open for future trips.

I am 'in'!  See you at 1 PM on Saturday in Field.

Chris

Is anyone bringing kids under 8?
If so, my 4yr old will come, if not then she will stay home, she will get pretty bored without another kid around lol

JohnnyO

No kids with me.  Is anyone else bringing dogs?  I'm still debating on whether to bring Harry.

Red90

No dogs as they are not allowed at most springs and a 13 year old.

That was a GREAT TRIP!!!!    We had excellent weather, great company and saw lots of beautiful scenary!!

Bald Eagle, Great Blue Heron, Black Bear butt, Grizzly in a culvert trap being relocated, Fawn white tail, 5 adult white tail, Osprey, Two frogs and a million tadpoles, Buffle head duck, duck with ducklings (species unknown), One high pass and one spectacular view from a fire tower.

I figure I did right around 1700km total and used about 175 liters of diesel, had two ferry rides, stayed at free campsites, had at least a dozen Kudos from folks admiring the Landy and ate about 4 pounds of fine dust...

All in all that was a brilliant trip folks!
Cheers, Bill

The duck was a Common Goldeneye Female according to my birding app.
