Good evening all,

I come with some sad news today....

Long term ALRE club member from just outside of Edson, Alberta BOB CARTER lost his battle with cancer on November 7th.

Bob was a 'Landy trained mechanic' (by tinkering on them all his life not from the company), whom I first met when he was driving an early defender.  But he had to relinquish it when he started to have trouble dealing with the clutch pedal.  Even though he had no landy he stayed with out club.  That is until he couldn't take it anymore and bought himself a Discovery 2, which put a smile on his face a twinkle back in his eye.  He kept that Disco for a few years and eventual came across a P38 Range Rover that needed a loving home...so he took that one home.

With both Joan and Bob getting on in years they decided to move into a seniors residence in Edson itself which allowed parking for only one vehicle, so the decision was made to sell on the landy.  Now you think that would be the end of days for Bob's love of landies but you'd be oh so very wrong!  When Bob found out he would be able to have a second vehicle at the new home less then a year later Bob found himself a much newer stray Range Rover (2012 or so) and brought it home.  He was one happy camper!!!

Sadly Bob's illness prevented him from driving it much at all....but he was happy to have a lany again.

So...remember kind thought of Bob and raise you glass (or cuppa) and wish him a fond farewell :-)

For those interested...Bob's family will be holding a 'celebration of life' in December, but the date hasn't been set yet.  Once I find out when this is I'll post it here.
