Just picked up a used 2005 LR3

anyone in the Edmonton area familiar with the electronics and has a code reader ? i have beer, coffee and tea.

Think i am going to order a nano com but would like to get a head start.

Rear door wont open, i am guessing actuator, will pull panels and check release cables, mechanism, microswitch

Transmission Fault, limited gears available, i  have an OBD II but i dont think it will pick up the faults.

Park Brake Fault

HDC Fault

Suspension fully lowered

Multiple dash lights illuminated, its like the 7 Amigos

Going to start with the basics, tail lights, brake switch, fuses, battery, grounds, but a code reader would be helpful and if anyone has tacked a similar fault your input would be appreciated.

i will be home all day Sunday, digging into the LR3 issues, and finding out what i have bitten off Alex 780 718-3122, shoot me a text if you want to drop by with your LR3 wisdom.

I am leaning towards a Nano Com, anyone have an alternative that is in the same price bracket and is a good fit with the LR3

I think Nanocom and Gaptool are the two big players, I have the gaptool, which is locked to my VIN so I can't even bring it over to read your fault codes unfortunately:( I think with nanocom, you're not locked to a vin but can only scan LR3s if you buy the LR3 one?

I think you're on the right track, a notorious ground thatll cause this is the on tucked up under the driver's side spare battery box tray. I'll attached a photo.

Let me know how you like the nanocom, im interested in them.

Chris

Also is your LR3 modified or have electrical assesories on it? If those are attached to any existing grounds those are known to cause issues and rust the grounding

Alex C

Thanks Chris

I trailered it home, just getting started on it

Hi looking for some ideas on next steps, or if you have experience with the electrical system, pop over the drive out to spruce grove is spectacular at this time of year  8)

I have a 05 LR3 SALAD25495A318824 with multiple faults, purchased used with faults so I don't have the progression or original symptoms

On the dash

Transmission fault , limited gears available
HDC Fault System not available
Park brake fault

Both park brake warning lamps on plus HDC, ABS, Suspension

Suspension does not raise, terrain response dial does not function, park brake needs brake pedal held to function.
Have run and passed unjam with Nanocom

Cannot bleed brakes, it faults

All fuses and relays are good, starts and drives with limited functions

Have replaced ABS module, checked bulbs, cleaned main ground next the battery boxes, changed sleeve and TM harness connection to harness (had oil leak plug , cable, pins sockets now clean and dry)

Checked Transfer case module, contacts looked good, did a contact cleaner application, all dry and no corrosion.

Thinking of purchasing a power probe maestro and trying to see if i have a bad wire

Or park brake module replace ?
Transfer case module replace?
Body module replace?
Pull sill plates check splices

their are a couple of units at the junk yard that i can get modules from

These are the faults i have been unable to clear

Update

All faults clear

Looks like the transmission harness connector or the terminal clean up sorted it out.

Or it may be a bad harness that i wiggled and have a short term fix.

Driveshaft and registration next, then test drive.

Hopefully just that harness needed a clean and plugged in nicely! What made you decide to clean that particular harness? Or was it a case of cleaning harnesses and grounds to eliminate that as an issue?

Alex C

Chris, their was oil around the plug, so i suspect the sleeve seals were gone, i had a bit off access with the oil pan replacement and access to sleeve release.

When i pulled the battery out, the well behind it was damp, so that also god a good clean and dry.

I should have the drive shaft done in the vnext couple of days, changeing that steady bearing is harder than you tube makes it out to be  ;D
