I went to an auction at Kastner years ago, heavily promoted. Stands were full, most of the lots were garage sale quality going for nearly new prices. I spent a whole day there and bid on nothing. It was a liquor auction, and they would sell the booze at more than what it went for on sale at the local store!  They had a few pallets of aftermarket unbranded liquor, and would bring out one at a time between the garage sale items. I think it has a proximity to the casino in that area, and it may attract some of the same crowd.

If this were a farm auction where the late farmer bought all new trucks and combines and had this old landy sitting in a barn, it might be a different auction.

I'm not down on auctions, there are some really good ones out there, and i'm not telling you about those..

I've bought commercial kitchen stuff from them and a lot of specialty tools, extinguishers, etc. But I agree, anything of apparent value, people go nuts . Of it's not on the list of cognitive biases, it certainly should be.

What did this one sell for? The last I saw it was $6800?

It looks like it went for $6,500 and $6,800 was the next bid.  Pretty good deal at that price.  I don't know what engine was in it though.  There is a video of the owner spray painting it online as he has a YouTube channel called Curiosity Inc.

It did look like a new $100 paint job in the photos.

I wonder what it would have fetched with the old patina? A bit of a polish and a flip here for sure.
