Series steering column rebuild

Hi guys
I am rebuilding my series steering column and have collected all the needed parts for the job. However the new inner column is 1/2 inch longer than the original. The worm end is exactly the same so the extra length is at the steering wheel end. I think this should only result in the steering wheel sitting 1/2 inch higher. Other than the length it all seems to fit fine. Or am I missing something? Just thought I'd ask before I put it back together.
