I'm attempting to install lap seat belts in my Series 2 88 Land Rover. I'm trying to determine where to anchor the door side belt. With the appropriate size bolts (7/16 8grade) and backing (spreader).
I'm looking at 3 possible sights. 1. Thru the seat box and sill. 2. Thru the box pillar and vertical sill support.  3. The corner of the base tray of the tub.  I plan to install the center anchors along this base tray with an underlay of angle iron and spreaders.
My 2 easiest options are to bolting the door side anchor bracket to the existing tubs vertical pillar, enlarging  the hole on the sill vertical brackets to take the required anchor bolt and a spreader in behind or enlarge the bolt hole down thru the seat box the sill bar and a spreader.
I've posted some photos to hopefully show the project.
If anyone has installed these anchor points or did something else I'd appreciate suggestions.

Hey Craig,

I think any of the three would work fine.  Biggest thing is the bolts/mounting plates.  Here's pictures of the 'behind the seat' mounting points I made for one of my trucks - looks similar to what you're doing, but I'm quite happy with the results.

Good luck,

Thanks Mike for the info. With the anchor bolts at the door sides, either the pillar or floor sill, I just want be sure it will pass inspection before drilling holes! Cheers Craig
