We have been enjoying the process of building up our 110 for long travel and backcountry exploring. Lots of work has been completed over the last few years and we are very pleased with it. But after upgrading the tires to 255/85r16 (33"), it is asking for some taller gears.
A set of 4.11s should do the trick but I am running into issues making this happen. It seems they haven't been made for the Salisbury axles in nearly 10 years! I can't find a set ANYWHERE.
But I'm reading that one can modify Dana 60 gears to work within the Salisbury with some minor(?) tweaks.
I'd rather not swap the entire axle for a variety of reasons.
Can anyone shed some light on the current options in squeezing some new gearing into an old Defender?

You can use a cheaper D60 gear set by drilling the diff for 1/2" bolts but you need to use a Dana pinion flange or yoke. You would thus need a custom driveshaft. I have heard on one person machining a Dana flange to the Rover pattern.
Thank you for the link! I've reached out to them and they have confirmed that they have everything I need to work with the Salisbury rear axle and the standard front axle. Everything in one place! I've been searching for quite some time and had nearly given up.
