Title: Rear brake/ tail light issues
Post by: dijansmith on July 14, 2024, 09:28 PM
So here is my situation. |I have the rear Britpart red tail light for my series 2a. I have a 2 position pull switch on the dash with park, tail Aux, Batt, Head and Inst. Batt, Aux and Inst. are connected and working. the problem is park and tail. How might brake light is the Britpart standard using one bulb for both brake and park/mark rear lights. The light has three wires. one Black, one Green (with black stripe), and a Red.  Red is connected to my brake switch (hydraulic switch) Black is ground and Green with stipe should be connected to what? Park or tail?

So on your light the red is brake,
Green is tail
Black is ground.

With that version of repop lights i had to shave the housing with an exacto knife to get the standard 1157 bulb to fit. Hopefully yours are better but if you cant get the bulb to rotate, just shave it down a bit.

Well I had to do similar thing, So I looks like I was right and now got to go hunting for other issues. I will try to use LEDs here (1157 ends). My Signals are pretty bright(LEDs).

Thank you!

Well, well, well.... More crappy parts from Britpart! The light receptacles were the main issue for my lights not working... the 1157 bulbs were not locking in proper to make contact at the bottom! I re-wired three times, traced, checked, and rechecked.
