maybe this is a silly question...but why not just adapt either the R230 or the ZF for diesels into the system?   :o

There are adapters for other gearboxes including both short and long bellhousing R380s. The two common autos companies are using are the 6L80e and 8HP70.

I think he mentioned the Jeep box has a more appropriate gearing for the torque curve of the Cummins.

The gearing is more or less the same as an R380.
