Title: How does your land rover do for mileage?
Post by: Trevor on August 15, 2018, 04:16 PM
I was going through fuel bills for our recent trip and was curious what my CT Defender 110 got for mileage on the highway when loaded with gear. Using the Edmonton --> Hinton leg as a reference I got 15mpg. Unloaded it's around 18 - 20mpg on the highway from what I recall from my trip back from Vancouver when I first bought it. Not bad, not great. Kinda around what I would expect for a big square thing getting pulled down the highway by a 100hp engine.

So what does your Land Rover get for mileage?

On highway, Nicole's D2 seems to be making about 10 mpg

And on the AMT from anahim to quesnel, an eye watering 3.8 give or take.  Or one mile per liter!

What type of gallons would you like the answer in?  I'll assume you mean US gallons?

With the 110, I've only done one check as it holds 210 liters.  22.5 mpg, road driving, fully loaded for a trip, 6800 pounds.  Isuzu 3.9 Diesel, LT95, 0.996:1 t. case ratio.
The same sort of conditions for the 90 gives around 25 mpg, around 5500 pounds.  200TDI, 51A LT77, 1.22:1 LT230.

When I did the AMT in the 90, I used 54 liters (200 TDI 90 / military LT77 / 1.4 LT230) Quesnel to Anahim Lake, 433 km with around 200 km off road. 18.9 mpg.

I can't tell you want volume I used (craig has the bills and may be able to read them to let you know) but our fuel bill, including the excursion down to Bruce Taylor's, and filling up in Tomahawk was $347 total.    But I expect to get about 650 to 725km per tank on the trip (hwy only).   Hope that helps.....

Lol, now THAT is impressive. I'm sure mine would be right around the same though. The Disco's aren't going to set any records for fuel efficiency.

My 200tdi RRC gets around 10 to 11 L/100km mixed driving and has been as good as 7.5 L/100km on some hwy trips.
