Discovery ii has two sun roofs. With time, rust starts to bubble towards the windsheild. The front sunroof starts to leak. The liner on the inside starts to sag.

Can the roof be removed and worked on or does it have to be cut off? Defender and series trucks have bolt in type usually.

Looking for some input. Emad

No.
That is to say the roof cannot be un-bolted. Older Range Rovers did have many panels, including the roof, that actually just bolted together. Sadly with the emergence of  RRNA, the sales dept deemed that North Americans demand a more solid body with less NVH so bonded panels became the norm.

Long story short. You can't remove the rusty roof very easily on a D2.

But. A Leaky sunroof and rusty roof are two separate issues and both can be repaired without too much disassembly.

All sunroof's leak. What causes problems is the drain tubes. They become dissconnected from the sunroof tray and leak. The repair is to remove the headliner and secure the drain tubes.

Rust is rust. Repair in the usual manor. ie. patch or weld as required.

Note. If the roof is rusting have a close look at the rear of the chassis. They tend to rust spectacularly on the Discovery 2 once even the most minor rust is noticed elsewhere.
