Non Technical Discussion / Re: Projekt Grenadier

I have just come back from Toronto and went to the motor show at Exhibition place, where I saw a Grenadier or display, it looked pretty fancy, compared to our old Defenders!

Wanted / 2.25 Engine, or Swap Candidate
Last post by Madpiper - February 28, 2024, 06:27 PM
I found out my 2.25 petrol block is cracked, so I'm looking for a replacement for my '68 2a 109.   I'm also entertaining the option of a swap-if you have possible engines (200TDI,OM 617a, or others?) or even the adapters, please get in touch. Thanks.

Technical Discussions / Re: Diagnosing master cylinder...

Now I'm not saying I have a clue what I'm talking about but....

I'm not sure about the double brake cylinder stuff but I've found from personal experience that the mushy brake is one of two items.   If the brake pedal is soft to start with then you might have air in the lines.   But if you are stopped at a light holding the brake pedal down, and it slowly wants to go to the floor still then you have a leak.  If you don't see brake fluid loss from the reservoir the seal(s) in the master are gone and allowing the fluid to pass the piston within the master.

Events / Re: Edmonton Monthly Gathering
Last post by binch - February 28, 2024, 11:29 AM
Greetings all,

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Irish Social & Sports club has had a water main break with subsequent flooding back in January.  They have just had their damage assessment completed and are now organizing a restoration contractor.  So...as you can imagine they are still closed for the foreseeable future.    We will return there once we receive notice that they are open again.

In the meantime we are going to hold the March 6th Edmonton area ALRE GATHERING at:

Superior Fish & Chips
6 Superior St,
Devon, AB
T9G 1E8

6pm until 8pm
https://www.facebook.com/superiorfishandchips/

Chris's Jan 13 trip to the Ghost falls had a bit of a glitch in that mother nature decided to give us a cold snap that weekend.   But undeterred, the trip was rescheduled for the following weekend, and by the sounds of it they had a brilliant day out!!!   There was a D90, LR3, two new Defenders and if I'm not mistaken a jeep tagged along with the group.
Chris is organizing another trip Late March to Ruby falls.  It's a has a couple of options to it so you have to go to the events section of our forum for more details www.http://alre.club/Forum/ .   I also see that Damian is proposing a trip to Kakwa Falls (Grand Prairie area) this summer, and he's looking for interest.   Again...for details check the events section in the forum  www.http://alre.club/Forum/.

So....I'm looking forward to catching up with people and learning more of what interesting options for club /events & trips people are organizing for this year.   I'd love to chat with you about them, and get your feedback.   Hope to see you at Superior Fish and chips.

Cheers, Bill

Technical Discussions / Diagnosing master cylinder fai...
Last post by brendan leier - February 23, 2024, 03:53 PM
My truck as been displaying some mushy braking, reservoir still full. Alas, my memory has failed me as I have replaced my master cylinder back in the day l, but can't recall the presentation. To complicate the matter, my disco still uses the elaborate RRC brake system with dual reservoir and multiple nipples per caliper. What is the quickest way to diagnose master cylinder failure?
