This is an interview with Dave Ashcroft and he mentions how you can wreck your LT230 in seconds by not locking the center diff when you expect wheel spin.  The statement is about 1/2 way in to the video.

He is exaggerating a bit.  You need to spin it at a fairly good clip.  It does just kill the diff which won't stop you and it is easy enough to change out.  The front output housing a center diff can be pulled and changed with the transfer box on the truck.  A good excuse to buy Dave's ATB center diff.  :)

There is a guy in the US that runs an LT230 in his ultra4 truck (700 hp, 100+ mph in the desert mixed with extreme rock crawling).  He really wanted to run a center diff on the high speed stuff as he found it made the handling much better.  What he found is the problem is that at high speed the center diff throws all of it oil out.  If you then use the differential action at the same time, the side gear wear out the thrust washers and weld themselves to the cross pin(s).  He modified his box to force oil into the diff and is now, I think, running his second season with no failures.

Anywho, if you have a Disco 2......get a diff lock actuator in there.
