Title: Lt77 oil
Post by: dylanh19 on June 19, 2017, 07:54 PM

I'm in the process of changing the transmission oil/filter on my 110. It has an early lt77 transmission and I've been reading a lot and hearing a lot of mixed responses regarding which oil type I should be using. I picked up ATF Dex3, but my friend who works for one of those McLube shops had a look at their manual and it said to use Type F due to the specific pump style in the Lt77. Now I'm not sure what to use. I use the 110 as my DD and thus it gets started regularly on the coldest months of the Canadian winter. I'm just looking to see what is the most current suggested oil type.

Thanks fellas

Any ATF is fine.  Most people, though, find the newer low viscosity MTFs shift a little nicer.  Redline MTL is very popular and fairly easy to find.  If you are using it in really cold weather and it is parked outside, something like Royal Purple Synchromax or a synthetic ATF will make those first shifts at -40 better.

Use a cheap ATF to fill, run and dump it. Then use Redline MTL.
