Title: Speaking of Over-heating...
Post by: Already a Rover on February 09, 2016, 12:07 AM
Hi.  Has anyone heard of the 'trick' of blocking off the port on the bottom of the intake which takes heat from the exhaust manifold?  On hot days last summer the truck would just die, and I had to stop and pour water on the carbs.  To be fair, I did have a small leak in the exhaust manifold, so maybe that was the cause?  I do have the piece of plastic between the carbs and the intake manifold.

What engine are we talking about?
Sounds to me like the fuel is boiling off causing vapour lock? If that is the case blocking off the heated air intake won't really help very much.

Check the routing of the fuel line and make sure it's not near the exhaust manifold.

The fuel line is where it should be - around the front.
