Lots of pain in the auto space these days.
Veritable sh*t-ton of subprime debt tied up in that auto loan space as well. It's a mess piled upon a mess.
Combine that with the massive amount of junk bond issuance out there in the corporate space, you've got a couple nice candidates to trigger the next crisis. In the US/Canada alone between the junk bond space and the subprime car loan debt you've got roughly 8 times the exposure to unsecured, hypothecated, or hyper-hypothecated debt issuance's than what we saw in the subprime home loan crisis in 2008. And that doesn't touch the massive black whole that is China.
Things will certainly get interesting again soon, and I kinda doubt the car manufacturers will be seeing any big recovery in the short term.

More on the woes of Jag/LR
Maybe this is good news.
JLR could become bankrupt. Tata will sell off the brands, and perhaps someone will come along, buy Land Rover and start building real 4WD vehicles again?
Or
JLR fails totally. The Land Rover nameplate is consigned to the scrap heap of automotive history along side it's one time parent Rover. And everybody will remember (just like Rover before it) that it's final models were totally out of step with its customer base and frankly, rather shit.
Good point Matt. There is a chance of a silver lining on that dark cloud. Lets hope it's the first option.

QuoteJaguar Land Rover is reported to be on the brink of being sold to French car maker PSA.
The PSA Group, which owns the Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall brands, is poised to step-in and take over the Coventry car maker according to the Press Association.
A Press Association report says leaked information suggests a sale of Jaguar Land Rover could be imminent.
It is understood a "post-sale integration document", which outlines the benefits of the two companies joining forces, is already in circulation and the firms are exploring the detail of cost savings after a tie-up.
A tie-up could take the form of a merger but given PSA's huge multi-billion pound turnover and Jaguar Land Rover's current woes it is would be likely to be a takeover by the larger car maker.
Well this is interesting news..especially since Tata doesn't sell too many of it's companies.

That is exciting. Will finally get a cup holder for the bubbly and a tray for the Brie Cheese and crackers. Not sure how the Brits will handle their gem owned by the French lol

It hasn't been a British company since 1993.
After witnessing what an Indian company has done to the brand I'd be willing to accept anyone. Not like they could move it any further away from it's roots at this point

Oh yeah??? How about they introduce the Phuematic/Hydraulic system they had in the Citroen DS and SM vehicles. VERY SMOOTH RIDE.....maintenance though....OUCH!!!
Citron could stick a big red nose and clown shoes on a Defender and it still wouldn't be be as silly or pointless as an Evoke.
