Title: winterizing
Post by: Scott in Canmore on September 20, 2018, 01:03 PM
I recently got a 1985 110 diesel on the road.  Unfortunately I have no garage so I'll need to overwinter it outside.  I'm planning on putting it up on stands so the wheels are off the ground to prevent flat spots and I'll bring the battery into the house.

Are there any other suggestions for keeping it fit to run in the spring?

Also, how well do the soft tops hold up if I put that over top of the truck for the winter?  (it only has a half hard top)

Thanks everyone

That should be fine. Check that the antifreeze is strong enough. You can get a tester cheap at any auto parts store.

and put the battery on a trickle or maintenance charger.    the canvas will tolerate the winter alright but it's a good idea to keep it out of the direct sun for the winter.   It helps to slow down the weathering a bit.   If you cover it with a tarp (cheap from Princess auto) watch for moisture on the underside, and allow it to breath to stay dry.
