Favourite Edmonton Radiator Shop??

Does anyone have a favourite Rad shop in Edmonton? The 2A is in desperate need of good help.

Seems like hunter is the only one left I think......maybe try one of the outlying towns around the area.   Hunters has become very expensive.   But if a good rad is worth saving those old ones might be candidates..... But have a good look around first.

You're going to have to get a quote for sure. I took an early 90 radiator into Hunter's, and it was maybe $175? There's usually rad shops in every town.

It shouldn't be a difficult decision to get a rad to your local shop for an estimate, should the rad be viable at all.

Well I guess that depends on what's wrong with it doesn't it.    But I've seen recores done at hunters for $400 plus.   Once upon a time there were a few rad shops in town and you could get header tanks and cores replaced, or patching done for very reasonable money.   But it seems new after market rads are available for not too much money.   That said I don't think they are nearly as heavy duty as the original ones.

But as Johno and Curtis have said....these smaller towns can be real gems for services.

Sub $200 is tolerable. $400+, not so much. Bearmach has a new one for $275CDN. Even with shipping, etc. not terrible. I don't know what the quality would be. Would it be there own or a Britpart resold?

If I decide to head down the replacement route, I might as well try to fix it myself. Nothing to lose but some dignity. If I can find any to lose. ;)

Britpart and Bearmach are competitors so I doubt they would be selling each other's products, even though their products may very well be coming from the same manufacturers.

If it's just a hole in a tank, sub $200 is plausible. They do sometimes find other corrosion pinholes on an older rad. The higher price of a custom replacement is worth it though, as these are way better quality than almost any off the shelf replacement available
