Title: Tex Magna-Lite indicator switch
Post by: Brian on February 07, 2023, 01:44 PM
New to the forum, not new to Rovers though. Wondering if anyone has experience rebuilding Tex-Magna-line indicator switch? Mine on my '71 IIA works intermittently and looking for either advice on how to rebuild it (I suspect I may be having an intermittent short inside the Bakolite encased switch), or if anyone has a working spare that they'd be looking to sell?
Thanks, Brian

Open it up.  Parts in Series trucks are intended and designed to be repaired and not replaced.

They're pretty easy, once you open it up.  There's not a lot in there to go wrong, but they do make rebuild kits, which include the rubber wheel.

I ordered mine from these guys: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Series-1-2-2A-Indicator-Stalk-Tex-Magna-Repair-kit-pivot-Screw/162389969080?hash=item25cf3248b8:g:J7oAAOSwTuJYnLub

Welcome to the group Brian
I got my parts from here:  https://pangolin4x4.com/item/47
There is also a guy in New York that rebuilds them if you don't want to tackle it yourself.
First make sure you have a good ground, and check that there is enough friction on the rubber wheel against the steering column.
I put an LED light in mine so I hopefully never have to take it apart again.
Good luck,
David
