fuel pump ?

Hi all,
When I got my D1 the po threw in a few parts he had for it and one of them was a new fuel pump, however it is for a non ael system. Over the course of this week the truck has failed to start twice, the second time I had to get to the pump and check the wires (look good) but it seems to run about twice as long to build pressure and sounds weak.
So does anyone know if I can swap just the pump into the ael housing?

I think you can. I would check the harness plug at the pump also for corrosion or loose pin fit
