Hello Members,,

Just wondering if anyone could put me on the right path in finding those rectangular side marker lens and assemblies for a Series III,,,,Looked all over, maybe they are obsolete by now??

Now for a dash cap??,, anyone??

Thanks....Mike

Hey Mike, good to see you on here. Are you talking about these?

The dash pad is pretty easy DIY to recover but any upholstery shop should be able to do it. Or new pads are available as well.

If your looking for the original NAS side marker ( Amber on front side of fender, rear red on back side corner) they might be tough to find NOS parts now, you could try some North American parts vendors, like rovers north  see if they stock any.  Guess you could if you find a old disco 1 it has side markers in the bumper corners they might work , think they are the same as the first NAS defender ones. Obviously not the same, if your going for factory look, but should work..  ;)

The lighting requirements for North America were different from everywhere else and are now hard to find as posted above. If you're not bothered about a replacement lens being embossed with the "Lucas" brandname then you can install any clearance light that has similar dimensions from Napa or Action parts etc. Personally I'd go that route as replacement bulbs will be easier to find and nobody but the most anal of river counters would be able to tell the difference anyway.

We're there not any lenses on those grey wings (fenders) I gave you? Or were they missing as well?

Thanks for replies guys... Matt,, Yeah, those wings were missing the side markers, but I think I will do what you suggested, going to Napa and finding something that will look alright and will work.

Thanks Guys....Mike

I Googled "side marker light" and they show many pictures of them.  Show ones from various car makers so maybe there is a style/shape more pleasing to you than regular NAPA side markers.

The original post was for side marker light on a Series 3.  Do you have a picture?  Looking in the parts catalog, I do not see any side lights.  The reflectors Matt shows are in the catalog, but they seem to be for the rear.  I see on the internet some trucks have them, but no parts shown in the catalogs...   ???

Defender side lights are cheap.  Three versions through the years.

Lots of local options as mentioned.

Such a strange one.  They are not factory, but do seem to be out there.  I wonder if they were added by certain dealers or in certain markets on import?  Probably out there in the Series graveyards.  The problem is that most of the Series graveyard guys don't hang out on the internet.

Maybe try asking on the Ottawa club as they have a lot more old time Series guys.  http://www.ovlr.org/  Crap, looks like they moved to Facebook...   ::)  The downfall of civilization as we know it.   ;)

In the interest of spreading unsubstantiated rumors,  I always assumed that they were added by Canadian dealers to meet the regulations of the day. They remind me of the Robertson screws that hold my Kodiak heater together.

Okay...  I joined the OVLR FB group and got immediate responses...

They are a Lucas light used commonly for British sportscars.  They seem to come in red, yellow and amber.  Do not seem easy to find new in my ten seconds of searching, but used are around.
