It was pointed out to me by Jeffrey Smallhorn that today is the 70th anniversary of the Land Rover. Just think what evolved from this simple but hearty machine so long ago. And just think of all that it has accomplished along the way.....International Aid, emergency response, exploring parts of the world not seen by any car before that, military, rescue, agriculture, expedition, SERIOUS competition in the Camel Trophy (G4 didn't count), and so much more....at least before it was pimped out in the past few years.
Now try and name another vehicle that you can get the parts for as readily still......

I was given book "Land Rover: a story of the car that conquered the world"

I've only finished reading it a month ago or so...very well written, light, humorous and full of land rover passion. It also pointed out some of the failures of management to lost land rovers hold on the world market. Good reading that!!!
