Title: Wheel wrench
Post by: pechanec on June 22, 2018, 09:17 AM
Unrelated to my last post, I was reminded of this just this morning.....If you are a disco ( or I assume ANY newer Landy/rangy )owner: replace the soft, bendy factory wheel nut wrench with a good quality 1/2" drive flex bar and 6pt socket(1 1/16" (27mm) unless the lug nut chrome covers are stretched, then you may need 1 1/8", or new lug nuts) You will be much happier when the nuts actually come off when a tire needs removal. We generally change all ours out, but the one on the D2 got missed. Fortunately, discovered at home where I have tools, not in the bush....

Good Point Curtis.

And one type of socket that helps is they type that has the rounded out corners like this example:

As opposed to this type which has sharp/point corners:

The thin skinned caps over the disco 11 nuts can damage easily and when they do they will interfere with the fit of the lug socket.

Yes, I usually remove the covers and paint the nuts. (requires a smaller size socket)
