Wanting to remove and refurbish the steering relay on my 55 series 1. I'm sure I'm not the first in the Edmonton area to struggle to get it out. I've seen some home made jigs that people have made to keep the chassis from rising while they push up the relay with a jack. Anyone local happen to have something like that I could borrow?
Let me know if you need any clarification.
Thanks,
Ian

This is all new to me....if you could let us know how you make out it would be appreciated Ian.
;)
If you have access to a oxy-acetyline outfit giving the chassis area some heat really helps persuade those relays to come loose. Be careful not to melt/warp the chassis or cook the relay though.
Or light any wd40 on fire.

Here is a large clunky version that requires more disassembly than I was hoping for.

Here's the duct tape and baler twine method, using the weight of the vehicle.

That's kind of what I'm after. Unfortunately, my jack just raises the vehicle.

take a length of chain and loop it around the cross member and back down under the jack, so they can't move apart from each other. What's a new steering relay worth any ways....31 quid plus shipping and taxes.
