Hi everyone.

As your ALRE rep for the All British Field Meet I would like to remind you that the event is on June 9th in Victoria Park form 9-4 and the online registration is at   http://www.albertaallbritishmotoringsociety.ca/2018-all-british-meet

Land Rover is the featured marque this year so we are hoping for a good turn out.  We even got 2 land rovers on the poster !!

There will be food trucks again this year but Emad mentioned something about bringing our own food as we have in the past.  If you would like to coordinate the food please let me know.

Also, If you are planning on attending could you reply to this post and I can take the numbers to our planning meeting on the weekend.

I have been charged with finding activities for the younger ones and I was wondering if anyone has a junk head that we can have the kids changing spark plugs on.  If you have any other activity ideas please let me know.

Cheers and I hope to see you there.

Hi Colin
I plan on being there with the Dormobile.
I have a great game for the kids, it's called Wax on...Wax off...Wax on...you get the idea!

Put me down as a"maybe". I'm committed to helping a friend build a guest bunkhouse that weekend, but I am going to try and break away for this event if I can.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I recieved a note to pass along regarding helping folks get multiple vehicles to the show...

"At our last AABMS Meeting we discussed an enviable problem a number of our members and exhibitors face each year:  owning more than one British vehicle and having to choose which one to take to the Meet.

At the same, there also drivers who don't have a vehicle to bring to the Meet.  Maybe they don't yet have a car, or their's is being repaired or undergoing restoration.  I know of at least three ECSCC members currently without a vehicle to show.

Our proposed solution?  an on-line clearinghouse to bring driverless cars and carless drivers together.  Hopefully, an owner with more than one vehicle can  arrange with someone willing and able to drive one of these vehicles to and from the Meet at an agreed upon time.
NOTE:  helping to drive does not include cleaning and waxing said vehicle!

Mike Leedham, ECSCC and AABMS member, has volunteered to coordinate this initiative.

Here's how it works:

1.  If you need a driver to take one of your vehicles down to the Meet,

      e-mail Mike Leedham at michaeljleedham@gmail.com

with particulars such as type of vehicle, location, and the time you want the vehicle picked up.  Your phone number is optional.

2.   If you are willing and able to drive another person's vehicle down to the Meet,

       e-mail Mike Leedham at michaeljleedham@gmail.com

with particulars such as whether you can drive a standard, your location, and times available.  Your phone number is optional.

Mike Leedham will on a regular basis send these requests and contact information to all those who have e-mailed him.

IMPORTANT:  we are not a matchmaking service.  Mike, as coordinator, will only be providing contact information to those who contact him with their request.

It will be totally up to owners and drivers to contact each other, asses whether they can work together, and make their own arrangements.

The AABMS assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any arrangements made, or for any negative consequences occurring therein.

Our hope is that this initiative will result in more British vehicles at the Meet, and more people getting the opportunity to drive a British vehicle.

Does anyone have a damaged/unwanted petrol head that we could use at the show.  We are interested in getting kids ( and anyone else) using their hands on cars, in this case changing a set of spark plugs.  Any brand will do as long as the spark plugs screw in and out.

If you have one laying around ( the head NOT a kid) please let me know.

I was looking over the schedule and noticed that it runs from 9am to 4pm. I think the last one I attended was just an afternoon gig so I am not sure the protocol for this all day format.

I'm not going to be able to sit around there all day. Is one allowed to arrive mid day with their vehicles (I'll bring the Camel and Dawna will bring the G4), or do you have to be there and parked by a specific time?

EDIT: Nevermind the above, I found my answer in the info package on the website. Vehicle staging between 9 - 10:30.

I'll have to pass on this one as I won't be able to free up that much time.

Hi Johno

If you could bring those heads that would be great.  Do you have a set of plugs too?

Johno753

So we have to register and pay the $20 to go to this ?

bumpydormobile

I haven't paid in all the years that I have gone...
but I don't register for any prizes or anything either.

northerndefender

Yep, $20.  Thats only been for the last few years to offset the rentals and what the sponsors don't cover.

Meet is this Saturday in Victoria park.  Recomendation is to come from the east due to road construction.

Link to the site:  http://www.albertaallbritishmotoringsociety.ca/2018-all-british-meet  but cash at the gate is fine.

Hope to see you there to celebrate Landrovers 70th year.

Cheers
