OBA or other options

Guys,
I've had a plan to install a York Compressor in the 88" for years.  I've even had a couple of them sitting in storage thinking I would tackle that project when I swapped in the 4.8 LS motor that's also been sitting there the whole time.  Unfortunately, who knows if or when that project will take the next step.  Anyhow, with the addition of the LR3 and being the probable focus for the next couple years it seemed like a good idea to investigate other On Board Air options for the LR3, or completely portable ones that could be transferred between vehicles.

From the distant past there were 12V compressors like Viair and ARB.  Now that the primary focus is the LR3, airing down isn't as extreme due to the shorter sidewall (18's vs 16's).  I'm not filling 12.5" x 35" tires from 10 PSI so a slower rate isn't as big a deal.

Are there other recommended options I should look at?

Cheers,
Kirk

I've been happy with the Viair portable kits.  They have different sizes at different prices.  Everything you need in a nice durable carry case.

This is the big one: https://www.4wheelparts.com/Air-Compressors-Air-Tanks-Air-Accessories/VIAIR-400P-Portable-Compressor-Kit-40043.aspx?t_c=89&t_s=566&t_pt=100437&t_pn=V/A40043

Britpart also does a big unit at a low price.  I've no experience, but I'm sure others must.

I've got the VIAIR 300P and it works great, I haven't abused it yet, but so far it's quick and quiet on my 265/75R16s. It was about $110USD on Amazon.com. I've only used cheap ones in the past though, so not much to compare it to.

My only regret is that I didn't get the version with the auto-shut off.

I had the Britpart unit and did not get much use out of it before it started falling apart. The electrical was the first to start falling to pieces. After the first year the compressor function started to decrease quite noticeably as well. I would not recommend it.

I've had the BP twin compressor for the past 6 or 7 years now (forgotten when I bought it).   Mines worked just fine.  Only problem I've had was a blowing a fuse once, and the plastic case is no match for the aluminium box and the bumps hahahahhaha

But I like mine just fine.

You could compare specs and pricing to the mighty new Milwaukee M12 compact cordless inflator. Or if you need more jam, the Rigid R0230 18V cordless air compressor. A cordless lithium ion tool has several advantages, especially when working with abandoned/scrap vehicles, home/garage projects, etc. I expect the Milwaukee is available with a mobile charger too.

I note KMS Tools carries Viair 12V compressors. I don't know how their price compares.
