I bought a set of new Yokohama Y742s here in Grande Prairie. They are DOT rated, and used to be common as a forestry and mining road tire.

While it's narrow, it is quite wider than the pattern on the Michelin XZL. I expect the Y742 will be much better wearing on pavement and gravel, will be a bit quieter, and decent in mud and dirt.

The tread pattern may be close to old Firestone "Town and Country", the tires are made in Japan, and are 8-ply. They really look better suited for a landcruiser on my tan khaki wheels.

It isn't much of an ice tire, and I don't plan to use it much in the winter.

I preferred the 7.50, as it better matches the 90.

All in, with tubes and installation, the bill was $1350 for five. This is about the same as I'd pay elsewhere for other branded tires.

Now, talking about tires here is like talking about hockey and politics. If there is another 7.50 offroad tire, DOT rated, that I missed, let me know.

There's many in the club with series trucks, and pre-Defender 90/110 that may like a matched tire while still available.
